In 2025, Skidompha Public Library will celebrate our 120th anniversary! In 1905, the Skidompha Library Association was incorporated and its collection of 1476 books was given to Damariscotta, Newcastle, and Nobleboro as the start of a Free Public Library, and we have been honored to be a part of this community ever since. We are looking forward to sharing this milestone with all of you!

We feel that this anniversary for Skidompha is truly a celebration of our whole community, and to that end, we want to hear from you! We encourage all our patrons, past and present, to share stories of the Library. Enjoying these many memories gives us all a unique opportunity to appreciate what we have meant to each other, and to reflect on what we will continue to mean in the future.

Submissions for this year-long retrospective can take many forms. Stories, recollections, photos and art are all welcome. We look forward to sharing these stories on our website and in our weekly newsletter. Next summer, a selection of submissions will be exhibited in our Carey Art Gallery, inviting an even wider audience of our friends and neighbors to enjoy this communal story.

Click the link below to submit your stories and pictures to the Library. If you do not have access to a gmail account to use the form, we will take submissions in person at the Library, or sent to development@skidompha.org with the subject line “Skidompha Stories”. Thank you for helping us appreciate the past 120 years of Skidompha, and for building the foundations for the next 120 years!
