Sunday, July 9, we will be hosting Governor Janet Mills and author Shannon A. Mullen in conversation with Heather Cox Richardson, here at Skidompha Library at 6:30 P.M.
Shannon A. Mullen is the author of In Other Words, Leadership, a book that “tells the uplifting true story of an extraordinary connection between Maine’s current Governor Janet Mills and Ashirah Knapp, a young mother and homesteader who sent the governor weekly handwritten letters of support through the first pandemic year. In this debut book by public radio journalist Shannon A. Mullen — drawn from Ashirah’s letters and excerpts from the governor’s personal journals — you’ll come to know two very different women who forged an unexpected bond that helped them brave the COVID crisis.”
This event will be held in the Library’s atrium. Doors will open at 5:30, and seats are available on a first come, first serve basis. Patrons are also welcome to make use of Library space to stand and listen.
The talk itself will begin at 6:30, with time afterwards for a Q&A session and book signing. Sherman’s Books will have copies of the book available for purchase at the event.
The event is free, but we do encourage donations either to our Food Pantry or to the Library proper.
