Skidompha will host New Hope for Women’s annual memorial exhibit “An Empty Place at the Table” on October 29th in the library’s atrium. This exhibit was previously scheduled for October 17th, and was rescheduled to the 29th due to last week’s extreme weather.
This dinner-table display includes personalized place settings dedicated to honor local victims of domestic violence. It is a solemn and uncomfortable reminder that domestic violence is a very real – and deadly – issue here in Maine. We hope that you will visit the library on the 29th to witness this moving display.
The exhibit will also be accompanied by the “Healing Through Art” display, created by domestic violence survivors.
If you, or someone you know, is experiencing domestic violence or is an abuser, New Hope for women can help. New Hope for Women’s website has a number of resources. Our library staff can discreetly connect you with this organization during a visit to the library, or you can visit their website at www.newhopeforwomen.org
