Skidompha Strummers Ukulele Ensemble to perform at Skidompha Library on April 13
All are invited to “Decades of Song,” the spring concert by the Skidompha Strummers ukulele ensemble, on Thursday, April 13, starting at 3:30, in the atrium of Skidompha Public Library in downtown Damariscotta.
The Strummers will play and sing a popular song or two from each decade since the ukulele first appeared in its current form, starting with “Hello My Baby” from the 1890s and finishing with “You Can Count On Me” from the second decade of the twenty-first century. Attendees will be invited to sing along.
The concert is free.
The ukulele group, also known as a “ukestra,” was formed by the library in the fall of 2017. Members play every Thursday from 3 to 5 in the library’s Porter meeting room. Anyone who knows a few basic ukulele chords and strumming patterns is invited to join. All practices are open to the public.
The library owns ukuleles that patrons may borrow with a library card.
