How
Can You Help Support
Your Library?

Skidompha
Public Library depends on the generosity of
individuals and organizations for a large part of its
budget.
There are many ways to give to Skidompha:
By volunteering your time, donating to our annual appeal,
remembering Skidompha in your will, giving to our Centennial
Endowment Fund, donations in memory or in honor of a person
or event, purchasing a brick for our walkway or donating
books. Skidompha is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit, and all
donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

Give Your Time and
Talent

Skidompha Library is
extraordinarily proud of our more than 100 volunteers who
contribute 10,000 hours each year! Thank you to those
already involved—we could not do what we do without you!
Here are the primary tasks we need help with:
Front Circulation Desk:
greet all visitors to Skidompha with a smile and hello,
check out books for patrons, and inform them of ongoing
activities at the Library.
Children’s Room:
maintain proper order on shelves, assist Children’s Room
staff with special events such as Toddler Time, Book Babies,
and our Summer Reading Program.
Second Hand Book Store:
totally staffed by volunteers, and located a few doors up
Elm Street from Skidompha, our Second Hand Book Store serves
as a major fund-raising vehicle. Volunteers staff the desk
and handle customer’s purchases. They report to Store
manager.
Shelf Readers:
maintain shelves in proper order and restock
the shelves periodically. Volunteers spend one to two hours,
one day a week, maintaining the shelves.
For those wishing to join this illustrious
group, please print out and complete the
Volunteer
Form and return it to Skidompha.
Annual Appeal
Each year, Skidompha receives about 15% of
its annual budget from the towns of Damariscotta, Newcastle
and Nobleboro. The remaining 85% must be raised through our
annual appeal, foundation and business support, and special
events.
Gifts to our annual appeal in any amount are
gratefully accepted. The annual appeal usually occurs in
November, but gifts are accepted throughout the year. You
can do this either by mail or online:

Securities
Due to certain tax advantages, donating
securities can be a very attractive option. However, before
doing so, check with your tax advisor as to whether this
works for you in your particular circumstance. For more
information, please contact our Development Director, Jeanne
Davis, at 207-563-1940 or

Planned Giving
In 2005, Skidompha celebrated its Centennial.
To insure that the Library will continue to serve our
community in the years ahead, we must increase our
endowment. You may choose from a variety of options:

Memorial and Honorary Gifts
A thoughtful and lasting tribute is a gift in
memory of or in honor of a beloved spouse, family member or
friend, or a special event, such as a wedding, anniversary
or birthday.
Depending on the circumstances, such gifts
may be designated for adding to our collection, for
purchasing a needed item, or for enhancing the Library
grounds.

Another way to honor or remember a loved one,
pet or event is to purchase a brick to be placed in our

our wonderful new downtown area!
