Here are some great ways to help
support your library:
Secondhand
Book Shop

A
fun way to find
great bargains while expanding your own book
collection is by visiting our Secondhand Book Shop.
The Skidompha Second
Hand Book Store offers a variety of previously owned books for your
reading enjoyment.
Make your way through
this funky shop to find books about every subject
imaginable. This is a treasure trove for serious and
not-so-serious readers, filled to the rafters with
books that should be read many times more than once.

There are fiction and
nonfiction hardbacks and paperbacks, magazines,
encyclopedias, dictionaries, matched sets of beautiful old books, first editions, rare books,
books for mystery fans, children, cooks, gardeners,
and on and on
.
Directed by Dr. Frank
Avantaggio and Parker Carey, the shop contains over
10,000 volumes. All proceeds benefit the Skidompha
Public Library.
And why not consider
donating some of your older titles to a good cause?
Earnings from sales of second-hand books go directly
to the library's operating budget.
Open from 10 to 4,
Monday through Friday and from 10 to 1 on Saturdays,
the Second Hand Book Shop is staffed by Library
volunteers who can answer your questions and direct
you through the shop, once a 19th century
carriage house.
Surely the book you
want is hidden here. And, your search for it will be
as much fun as finding it!
"Miss
Rumphius" Posters

"Miss
Rumphius" ©1999 Barbara Cooney
One of
the Skidompha Public Library's most generous benefactors was
Caldecott Award-winning author and illustrator Barbara
Cooney. She generously provided a limited number of signed copies of
an illustration from
"Miss Rumphius," one of her most
popular books to help our capital campaign effort.
Unfortunately, these have sold out. We do, however, have a
limited number of unsigned copies from the same press run
available for $100 each.
Earnings from the sales of the posters
are used to help
finance the library's operating budget. For more
information on acquiring these posters, contact the library
at 563-5513 or drop by.
Skidompha Book Pins®

These joyful and
unique pins celebrate reading, literacy, adult and
children’s books; some of them urge us to "stamp out
prime time," to love reading, to read to a child.
Produced by Lucinda of Scarborough, each pin is an original
creation. Colors range from soft pastels to deep, powerful
primary colors.
The only problem
you’ll have is making your selection: the choices are all
good. Many people buy several for themselves, and several to
give as gifts.
Priced at only $13,
the Book Pins® are perfect stocking stuffers, great presents
for friends, children, graduates, teachers, and especially
librarians; for everyone who loves reading, learning and
libraries. (Each sale benefits Skidompha.) Book Pins® are
available at the library.
